Cap room Conservers
There have been a few players in the past couple of weeks who are not going to contend for the scoring title or even contend for playing half the minutes of the game, but they do pick a couple of stats here and there, with consistency, and they should be cheap. You pick up one of these college heroes and you can afford a Garnett or Mcgrady.
Stromile Swift: Remember when this guy was the next Garnett? Well, he is coming along slowly, very slowly, very very slowly, but he is coming along. Since the departure of Drew Gooden from the Memphis Grizzlies, Swift’s time has gone way up, and so have his stats. In his last game he had 24, 10, and 6 (blocks), not too shabby. If you are in a league that values blocks and steals over points, then he is an extra big pick-up, because he can swat the ball.
Milt Palacio: The Cavs are competing very hard, in fact no other team puts as much effort into the chance of having LeBron on their team than Cleveland, but before he gets there, why not check out Milt. It dos not mater if you believe the notion that the Cavs are tanking to get King James or not, the fact is they have replaced their leading scorer (Ricky Davis) in the starting line up with “got milt” Palacio. He will still share minutes with the always soft spoken Davis, and will not begin to average 20 per, but with minutes comes numbers, and he’ll get them.
Rodslav Nesterovic: Rod here may be slightly more expensive in your league, but he has been worth it, as of late. Garnett has been playing so amazing, that it is rubbing off on Rod. He has been getting double doubles fairly consistently, and his playing time is holding very strong. He is not winning any awards, but 13.9 ppg, 9.6 rpg, and 2.1 bpg over the last nine games is not too shabby, especially if your league counts more for bounds and blocks.

Michael Jordan is not done. He has missed some time in the past 2 games for back spasms, but Doug Collins commented that when Jordan was told he might have another back spasm during wed. night’s game, he replied, “Is it life threatening?” The doctor said no, and Jordan played. The old man has got heart. I mean it is Michael freaken Jordan!

Penny Hardaway’s fragile frame has about as little potential as Marcus Camby’s. He is back, and the suns claim it will be time to get things going again with Penny, I am not betting on it. The suns are losing because Amare is still just a rook playing sixty more games than he is used to, and Marbury can only help Marbury. Even if Penny stays in one piece, he will cost too much to do too little. Penny is the biggest “next jordan” victim there has been. At least the under achieving Joe Johnson was cheap.
