Week 2 saw WR
Eddie Royal, one of my waiver wire suggestions from last week, have five receptions for 65 yards and a touchdown.
With the bye week approaching in Week Four, here are some players Fantasy Owners should consider adding to their team.
Quarterbacks:
Shaun Hill, Detroit Lions
In his first start for the Detroit Lions, Hill finished with 335 passing yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions as he completed passes to seven different receivers.
In Week three, he will face the Minnesota Vikings, who ranked for 19th in allowing 26 touchdown passes last year.
Owned in less than one percent of ESPN leagues and three percent of CBS Sportsline leagues, Fantasy Owners who use two quarterbacks should claim the veteran.
Sam Bradford, St. Louis Rams
He has looked fairly decent his first two weeks, which for a rookie is amazing. He has 420 yards passing, three touchdowns and four picks in his first two games. Granted, they came against weak Arizona Cardinals and Oakland Raiders teams, but he has the potential to keep progressing as the season advances. He is a player to keep an eye on, possibly stash away on your bench to see if he keeps showing improvement.
Running Backs:
Jason Snelling, Atlanta Falcons
Once starting RB Michael Turner left the game with a groin injury, Snelling filled in and had a great game. He finished with 24 carries for 129 yards with two touchdowns and had five receptions for 57 yards and a touchdown.
The Falcons will travel to New Orleans in Week Three, who last year ranked 21st against the run and surrendered 19 rushing touchdowns.
Owned in three percent of ESPN leagues and 20 percent of CBS Sportsline leagues with the future of Turner uncertain, Snelling becomes an immediate pick up in all leagues.
Marshawn Lynch, Buffalo Bills
After being buried on the depth chart, Lynch led the team in carries and rushing on Sunday. In Week Two, he finished with 17 carries for 64 yards, yet did not manage to score a touchdown.
One would have to guess the Buffalo Bills were showcasing Lynch’s ability to gather trade interest on the veteran.
Owned in 58 percent of ESPN leagues and 36 percent of CBS Sportsline leagues, he is a worthy addition to any team and has the potential to be traded to a team, where he can reestablish himself as a worthy fantasy running back.
Mike Tolbert, San Diego Chargers
Due to the injury of starting RB Ryan Matthews, Tolbert tallied the most rush attempts in his absence. He carried the ball 16 times for 82 yards with two touchdowns and had one reception for 13 yards.
Despite being behind Darren Sproles on the depth chart, Tolbert was the main point of the rushing attack. Sproles only had five carries for 37 yards and four receptions for 63 yards.
Tolbert should see a significant amount of carries and more importantly, the goal line carries for San Diego. Owned in less than one percent of ESPN leagues and CBS Sportsline leagues, if Matthews is not ready to go, Tolbert should be an automatic pick up for Week Three.
Wide Receivers:
Nate Washington, Tennessee Titans
Washington was able to find the end zone late in the fourth quarter against a tough Pittsburgh Steelers defense. He finished the game with four receptions for 34 yards and more importantly has scored a touchdown in two consecutive games.
Unfortunately for Fantasy owners, Washington could have ended up with another touchdown, yet the pass was intercepted in the end zone.
Owned in 38 percent of ESPN leagues and 50 percent of CBS Sportsline leagues, Washington is clearly the No. 1 option in Tennessee and is a low-end No. 3 option.
Mike Williams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers’ rookie was targeted seven times in Week Two at Carolina. He finished with two receptions for 54 yards and one touchdown.
He has scored in his first two games, yet will face a tough Steelers defense next week. Owned in 35 percent of ESPN leagues, Williams and QB Josh Freeman have a good relationship and is an excellent pick up as a low-end No. 3 receiver.
Tight Ends:
Dustin Keller, New York Jets
After having a disappointing 2010 debut against the Baltimore Ravens, Keller had one of his best games as a pro. He had seven receptions for 115 yards and one touchdown.
The Jets will face the Miami Dolphins next week, against whom TE Visanthe Shiancoe had eight receptions for 86 yards in Week Two. Mark Sanchez is clearly looking for Keller, so expect their relationship to continue to grow in Week Three.
Owned in 16 percent of ESPN leagues and 54 percent of CBS Sportsline leagues, Keller is a solid No. 2 tight end with the ability to become a low-end No 1 tight end.
Aaron Hernandez, New England Patriots
He had his first 100-yard game against a stingy New York Jets defense. He is going to be volatile, because he has to compete with WRs Randy Moss and Wes Welker for touches, but he is not going to see any double-teams either. He is worth picking up, especially as the bye weeks approach.
Defense/Special Teams
New England Patriots
Despite giving up 28 points to the New York Jets that did not stop them from getting to Sanchez. The Patriots had three sacks against a very good offensive line.
In Week Three the Patriots will host the Buffalo Bills. In Week Two the Packers had four sacks and two interceptions against them, as the Bills only managed 102 passing yards and 124 yards rushing.
Look for the Patriots to be a sleeper and a wise choice for any Fantasy Owner looking for a favorable matchup in Week Three.
