Sunday, February 3rd, the entire United States will be glued to their television sets along with Millions across the globe. There is not a greater spectacle in all of America than the annual event of America's favorite pastime. (Sadly more people will watch the Super Bowl than any Presidential debate this year.)
Sure, we can all look forward to the game at hand, or even the new fangled commercials, but what will really grab the American culture is the ever present Prop Bet. (Tongue in cheek). By NOSTRADAMUS.
Every Super Bowl, the "Modern day" gambler is treated to a plethora of options when it comes to wagering on this incredible spectacle of NFL football.
So what are some of the 'Irrelevant' gambling totes you ask? Your friendly prognosticator brings a few of them to the forefront for your reading entertainment:
1. 1st Offensive Lineman called for a holding penalty
2. Total tackles by Giants safety Gibril Wilson
3. Shortest or Longest Punt, AND by whom?
4. Who will the MVP of the game 'Thank' first?
Ridiculous you say? Ridiculous is an understatement. Along with such favorites as the coin-toss, and 1st to score a touchdown, the irreverent gambler has many an option this coming Sunday to "Invest" their money.
As ridiculous as these wagers sound, thousands........ no......., MILLIONS of dollars will be wagered upon these exact outcomes. More money will be wagered on Super Bowl prop bets than the GNP of many a country across the world. Sad you say? Yes, very sad indeed!
So as you delve into your 13th mojito, or your 25th buffalo wing, or even your 6th serving of nachos, remember that the ultimate outcome doesn't always lie in the final score. Many a bankroll will be decided upon who scored the winning touchdown, who kicked the longest field goal, and whether an odd or even numbered jersey scored the 1st points........AND.......the last points.
Isn't life grand? Wait a minute........ I have 10 grand on the longest field goal......don't I? (Come on Mr. Tynes, don't you know my kid's college education is riding upon your foot?)
Enjoy your Sunday everyone. And.......... HAPPY WAGERING...........!!
Question: Is the Monday after the Super Bowl the most called in sick day in the United States? Inquiring minds want to know.
So what is the worst Prop bet this year? I'd love to hear it at the forums below:
