Start of the Week
Now that we are in full playoff mode the start of the week is the QB I think will have the best chance to lead his team to fantasy gold. If you happen to have a league that still allows trades, see if you can get him. This week's start is Drew Brees vs. the Arizona Cardinals.
Players to Start:
Quarterbacks:
Most people have drafted Phillip Rivers to start but were disappointed. Rivers has a good start this week versus Detroit. Cleo Lemon should start over Beck and should do good this week. Trent Edwards is another QB that should do well. He is the future of the Buffalo Bills.
Running Backs:
There are plenty of good Running back plays this week. Let’s start the list with LaDanian Tomlinson and Joseph Addai. Watch his injury, but Adrian Peterson will be a great play this week. If he is questionable, give Chester Taylor a go instead. You did handcuff them right? Rounding out my group of starts is Kolby Smith and LenDale White.
Wide Receivers:
The Stud of the week to feel confident in is Terrell Owens. Look for Bernard Berrian to have a good game too. Kyle Orton should rely on him. Chris Chambers should get some points as well. Marques Colston will continue his whirlwind of starts. I also like Patrick Crayton to get some solid numbers too this week if you are looking for a late add.
Tight Ends:
L.J. Smith, Heath Miller and Antonio Gates are guys you are already starting. By this point you probably do not have a TE by Committee on you roster. If you are looking for a last minute drop/add Try Alex Smith. Robert Royal should already be on your radar.
Defenses:
Defenses are pretty set by this point as well. If you are looking for a last minute pickup try Cincinnati vs. S. Francisco. Miami versus Baltimore looks good. If by some odd reason Troy Smith starts I would skip the Dolphins. New Orleans should put up some defensive points over the Arizona as well. Finally, look for Washington to get good points this week versus the Giants.
Sit of the Week
Andrew Walter has helped many teams this year but I fear this week he will be a hindrance in your lineup versus Denver. Keep him on your bench.
Players to sit:
Quarter Backs:
Sit Vince Young this week. I am sure you have been avoiding San Francisco’s QBs. Keep ignoring them; it is a good policy. Jon Kitna has a bad match up as well versus San Diego. I am not telling you to sit them but Peyton Manning and Tom Brady should have down weeks.
Running Backs:
Adrian Peterson (Chi) is a late-season gem, but sit him this week. He has a bad match up. Maurice Jones-Drew has a bad match up as well versus Pittsburgh. Speaking of the Pittsburgh-Jacksonville game. You will be starting Willie Parker but do not be surprised if he does not do well. Gore and Portis have bad match ups as well.
Wide Receivers:
if you haven't noticed by now; if the QB does poorly so does the Wrs. I expect Derrick Mason to have a down week. I also expect Mike Furrey to do poorly. I expect Randy Moss to have an off week and all of Indy’s Wrs to suffer a little. Hines Ward will not be as effective than one would like. Joey Porter is a bubble receiver. Sit him as well.
Tight Ends:
Zach Miller has been a surprise this year. Still, you should sit him this week. Jason Witten will have a down day as Philly keys in on stopping him. Can anybody get the ball to Vernon Davis? I don’t think so.
Defenses:
There are some things you just know. The sun coming up in the morning and that Christmas is in December. Add to this list sit whichever defense is playing New England. This week it is the Jets defense. In fact double sit the Jets defense. New England will want to put up 70 on them after spy-gate. Also sit Cleveland, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.
