Start of the Week
Written by Chad Samuels.
Playoffs start this week for ESPN Leagues so I am going to offer two Starts of the Week. For those playoff bound start Brian Westbrook. He does not have a good match up but unless there is an injury you have to play your stud and live or die by them. The good news is when McNabb is out of the lineup the rest of the Eagles step up. For those not playoff bound if you have to decide between Ben Roethlisberger and someone else. Take the Roethlisberger match up.
QuarterBacks to start
Tony Romo will come htrough for you this week. So should Peyton Manning. If you are looking for a replacement QB, try Vinny Testaverde or Kellen Clemens. They have favorable match ups as well.
Running Backs to start:
L.T. is a must start. So is Ryan Grant versus Oakland. Edgerrin James will exceed expectations this week. You can also start Len Dale White and Clinton Portis without worry this week.
Wide Receivers to start:
Terrell Owens and Patrick Crayton should be must starts this week. Laveranues Coles should put up good fantasy points versus Cleveland. I also like Amani Toomer versus Philadelphia. Kevin Curtis is beginning to live up to where he has been drafted. You can start him this week. I would also Start D.J. Hackett and Arnaz Battle if you can as well.
Tight Ends to start:
Dallas Clark is the cream of the TE crop this week. Alge Crumpler will do well too. Jeff King and Mercedes Lewis are under the Radar options as well. Eric Johnson is a good play too.
Defenses to start:
I like to play a game called follow the bouncing Jon Kitna. Start Dallas defense if you have them. Denver’s defense is in a good position to do well this week. Kansas City and Philadelphia are good plays this week.
Sit of the Week
This week’s sit of the week is not the stud I normally put forward. Again in the playoffs you play your studs win or lose. So, instead I have a QB on the bubble that you should not start this week. This QB has played well of late and has solid Wide outs. Sit Kurt Warner. Seattle allows too few passing TD.
Quarter Backs to sit:
Trent Edwards should not be starting on your roster. Jay Cutler has a poor match up as well. The Jets have gotten stingy of late. Sit Derek Anderson. Expect Tom Brady to have an off week versus Pittsburgh this week.
Running Backs to sit:
There are several big names that should have off weeks. They include Addai, Westbrook and Jackson. Ron Dayne is a poor start. Also expect Maroney to not do well this week. Frank Gore has been a disappointment this year. He continues this week.
Wide Receivers to sit:
Lee Evans has a poor match up. I would not start him this week. Braylon Edwards will get some start but not what you are used to . Randy Moss should be shut down as well as he can be shut down. Sit Donald Driver and James Jones.
Tight Ends to sit:
Antonio Gates starts every week. Especially so in the playoffs. Expect his numbers to dip. Sit Heath Miller, he will underperform this week.
Defenses to sit:
Detroit’s defense is in for a tough day. Oakland's Defense could come up a little flat. Pittsburgh should underperform versus New England this week. Tampa Bay could have some trouble as well.
