By Bryan Brown.
Here we go gentlemen. The playoff push is here and this could be the difference between making the playoffs or not. With that being said don’t forget the defense. IDP’s can be the saving grace. Especially if you offense isn’t the cream of the crop. Last week I did pretty well and I know Patrick Kerney won me my game last week all by himself.
This week you should start Elvis Dumervil DE of the Broncos. The Broncos desperately need a win after last weeks poor special teams play. The defense has played well for the last 3 weeks and Elvis is the best DE on the team. I look for a big game as he faces a sorry Oakland offensive line. You should also start Osi Umenyiora DE of the Giants. Although I consider Osi an every week starter, this could be an exceptional week. The bears may have to rely heavily on the pass with Benson out for the season and Rex could be a sitting duck for Osi to sack.
Someone to consider sitting this week is Shaun Ellis of the Jets. Don’t ask me why but the Dolphins actually protect the QB pretty well. I know it seems like this should be the opposite but Ellis has been streaky at best this year anyways, so sit him. The other sit this week is Terrell Suggs of the Ravens. He has been one of the most consistent DE in the game today, but he faces the Brady show. I am looking for the Pats to rebound and kill the Ravens 50 something to 10.
Linebacker to start this week is London Fletcher of the Redskins. With emotions high after the horrific tragedy that happened this past week, look for the Skins to play a little harder. Lets also not forget he is playing against his old team. My other start at LB is Michael Boley of the Falcons. Even the toilet bowl between the Falcons and the Rams could produce a lot of tackles for Boley.
So who do we sit this week? How about Patrick Willis of the 49ers. This guy should win defensive rookie of the year, but I bet he won’t have 17 tackles like last week. That’s right 17. The Panthers miserable excuse for an offense won't be on the field long enough for Willis to make that kind of impact. My other sit this week is Nick Barnett linebacker of the Packers. The Boys will be pass happy as usual and for some reason I don’t see much defense on either side of the ball. Looking forward to the shoot out. I hope it is as good as hyped.
At cornerback I like Deangelo Hall of the Falcons. Lets face it, whoever starts at QB for the Rams will probably throw an INT, so Hall should have a chance at it. My other start this week is Leigh Bodden of the Browns. This is one of those guys that can play anywhere on the field, and is always around the ball. If the Cardinals test this guy they will get burned, and you know they will test him.
Sit Charles Woodson of the packers. He is listed as probable, but isn’t going to have a good game if he does start. I think T.O is just to much receiver for Woodson to cover. My other sit is Mike McKenzie of the Saints. Garcia is having the year of his life with hardly any INT’s so don’t expect much from McKenzie. Although the Saints have to win I think they will do it on offense and not defense.
Safety to start this week is Michael Lewis of the 49ers. He is the safety that no one knows about, and the one every one should look at. Last week he had 11 tackles and a sack against Arizona. He could do that and add an INT this week against the Panthers.
Sit Roy Williams of the Cowboys. He is a good safety that can flat lay a hit, but he can’t cover. This is not a good matchup as Jennings and Driver have been picking apart defenses all year. Like I said earlier, shoot out with very little defense.
Good luck to everyone and may your team make the playoffs. Visit us at www.fantasyfootballmaniaxs.com for more.
