For the majority of these guys we suggest taking a look mainly for the week 8 bye and/or to add depth to your roster. For many of you a warm body that will put up a few points is all you are hoping for, maybe some upside potential. With Arizona, Atlanta, Baltimore, Dallas, Kansas City, and Seattle getting a rest in week 8 combined with the usual injury question marks, fantasy roster's may look pretty thin. The waiver wire in many leagues has been picked clean after the week 7 bye. Written by Garth Gregor.
QUARTERBACK
Jason Campbell - he has a respectable running back to draw attention from the defense. He makes good decisions for the most part and avoids the sack. He does not have the weapons to have a huge game but should be throwing early and often against the Patriots this week.
Brian Griese - With back to back 300+ passing yard games Griese should be owned in more than the 25% of ESPN leagues. With a favorable matchup against the Lions this week, look for Griese to have another solid day. He has been able to incorporate Benson, Olsen, Clark, Berrian and Muhammad and the Bears passing game looks strong.
RUNNING BACK
Jesse Chatman - Ronnie Brown is scheduled for ACL surgery and his season is over. This opens the door for Chatman as the feature back for the Dolphins. Chatman takes over for the top fantasy running back in week 8 against a tough Giants defense. He has looked solid in limited action and can catch out of the backfield.
Kenton Keith - If you were watching the same Monday Night game I was, you saw Keith taking a lot of touches from Addai including the all important goal line carry. Keith capitalized with the touchdown and the Colts may be trying to spare Addai from big hits. Addai has appeared fragile at times so Kenton Keith should be on your bench or in extreme situations in your lineup as a warm body.
Michael Robinson - The San Franciso offense is killing Gore's productivity. To be fair they have had injuries and now Gore is banged up. If he can't go, look for Michael Robinson to start in his place. Gore refused to sit after injuring his ankle on Sunday so watch the injury reports carefully.
WIDE RECEIVER
Brandon Stokley – With Javon Walker out for at least six weeks, Brandon has every opportunity to put up numbers. He came alive on Sunday night catching five balls for 70 yards and a touchdown. He was targeted 7 times and looked solid and confident. If you are hurting with the bye week, consider plugging him into your lineup against the Packers focused on stuffing the run.
Arnaz Battle - He had 10 looks on Sunday including a missed 2 point conversion opportunity so the coaches know his number. He finished the day with six receptions for 57 yards and a touchdown. Week eight could turn into a shootout against New Orleans and Battle could put up great spot start numbers again.
Amani Toomer – If he is available he makes a decent option as a bye week start, maybe longer. Defenses are paying attention to Plaxico "8 touchdown" Burress and it showed as Toomer and Shockey scored this week. There should continue to be the upside potential touchdowns and a healthy number of targets for Toomer, particularly in week 8 against the awful Dolphins.
TIGHT END
Donald Lee - probably dropped back to waivers with the week 7 bye but Lee has proven to be a favorite safety valve and occasional red zone target.
Zach Miller – Miller is developing a bit of chemistry with Culpepper and should continue to get a few decent looks and the occoasional red zone target. Keep him in mind for a spot start during bye weeks.
DEFENSE
New York Giants DEF – A great play against Miami, the Giants are only owned in 49% of ESPN leagues. With Ronnie and Trent out for the season and Chambers in San Diego, this defense is worth using your waiver priority for.
Titans DEF - With or without Josh McCown I like them against Oakland this week. I am not even sure which is better, a rusty McCown or a warmed up Culpepper. Play them with confidence at home against the Raiders.
KICKER
Lawrence Tynes – The Giants can put points on the board with their offense and thier defense. This gives Tynes his share of opportunities. The only downside is the Giants tendency to go for it on 4th down, score a touchdown, or turn the ball over with aggressive play calling. This week is ideal against the pathetic Dolphins.
Phil Dawson – The Browns have also have been able to move the ball up and down the field. With an attractive matchup against the Rams this week, Dawson should be good for spot start.
KEEP AN EYE ON THIS GUY
Chris Henry – the running back took advantage of his opportunity with Chris Brown banged up. Henry got 11 carries for 57 yards including a 24 yard scamper and a touchdown. He also showed he could catch out of the backfield catching a pair. He will not take over for LenDale White but a thunder and lightning type of running back by committee could emerge.
