Revised 01/2002
This is what The Dalai Lama has to say on the millennium and what the Kingfish has to say on Fantasy Baseball 2002, all it takes is a few seconds to read, think and laugh! My comment are in bold italics.
1. Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
1. You know you love it, the great draft and great trade all involve great risk.
2. When you lose, don't lose the lesson.
2. When you get burned on a deal, do not forget why.
3. Follow the three Rs & Ks:
A. Respect for self
A. Know yourself
B. Respect for others and
B. Know the other owners
C. Responsibility for all your actions.
C. Know why you took an action, no one can make you trade, draft, waive, etc....
4. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.
4. Remember that not getting Derek Bell (& others) is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.
5. Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly.
5. Learn the rules so you know how to use them properly.
6. Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
6. Just because you cannot work out a deal doesn’t mean the other owner is a dip.
7. When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
7. See Bell above or Gagne and go get Oswalt.
8. Spend some time alone every day.
8. Spend some time on the net every day.
9. Open your arms to change, but don't let go of your values.
9. Open your eyes to change and jump all over value.
10. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
10. Remember that if you’re not talking, you’re not dealing.
11. Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll be able to enjoy it a second time.
11. Be a good active, honorable owner. Then when you finish the season think back and you’ll wonder why you didn’t trade to get Bonds.
12. A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for your life.
12. A loving atmosphere in your league would worry me a lot.
13. In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation. Don't bring up the past.
13. In disagreements with other owners, deal only if you can improve your team. Don’t bring up the past.
14. Share your knowledge. It's a way to achieve immortality.
14. Spread it around extra thick. You too can be a Roto God.
15. Be gentle with the earth.
15. Be gentle with new owners.
16. Once a year, go someplace you've never been before.
16. Try a new strategy you’ve never used before.
17. Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.
17. Remember that the best league is one where active ownership exceeds your teams actions.
18. Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.
18. Could not have said it any better.
19. Approach love and cooking with reckless abandon.
19. Approach trades and drafting with reckless abandon.
So Sayeth The Dalai Lama and the KingFish!
