Defending Champ: KJ Choi
Last week's Honda Classic may have been the most entertaining of the year to date. If you watched closely, you saw many things you don't normally see on the PGA Tour. Poor Boo. I really thought he was going to four putt 18 and jump in the lake! He had some total gaffs. For these guys, there really is no excuse for popping up three wood into the hazard especially when you're playing a conservative shot. Boo will win on the PGA Tour eventually and I can't wait to see him spittin' his way all over the golf course again. Mark Wilson was money though. How often do you see a caddy call a penalty on his player? Not very often and the fact that the guy was in tears lets you know how crucial this was to Wilson. You can't root against a guy who's been to "Q School" ten times in a row. That's a streak he'll be more than willing to part with.
This Week...
Another weak field this week at the PODS Championship. Woods, Els, Mickelson, Furyk, Donald, Ogilvy, Love, Scott, and Toms are all out. Vijay Singh is really the only big name in the event. KJ Choi has won here twice. Singh has won once.
MY PICKS...
"A" Players: With half of the "A" class not in the field you have to take Vijay Singh. He hasn't missed a cut and is the best player in the field. KJ Choi would obviously be a good pick considering he's a two time champ. After that, the "A" class is weak.
FINAL "A" PICKS: Vijay Singh and Rory Sabbatini
"B" Players: I had picked Justin Rose but found today that he's not playing either. Charles Howell III is playing and has been the quality pick in this class. Chad Campbell has a good resume here, one runner-up and finished 19th last year. Sergio Garcia is playing this week and would be a respectable pick. Camilo Villegas almost won last week and John Senden hasn't missed a cut. "B" Class is deep this week.
FINAL "B" PICKS: Chad Campbell, Sergio Garcia, John Rollins, Charles Howell III
"C" Players: The "C" class was fairly easy for me this week. Troy Matteson seems to be a popular pick this week but I'm surprisingly going to pass on him. I like Trevor Immelman's game a lot. Brett Wetterich should have been in that playoff last week and played very solid golf last weekend.
FINAL "C" PICKS: Brett Wetterich and Trevor Immelman
Good Luck!
