Some rumors to pay attention to during the NFL off season. Most of them are speculative at this point, but to be taken into consideration as some moves in the NFL may affect your fantasy draft decisions in the fall! Your Fantasy Doc will break them down for you.
A.J. Feeley, Qb for the Eagles, just signed a 3 year extension to back-up Donovan Mcnabb. Maybe, Jeff Garcia wanted to get paid for the spectacular fill-in he provided when Mcnabb went down.
Jeff Garcia to be Qb for the Broncos? It looks like he's going to Denver to back-up Jay Cutler or take over for him when he struggles next season.
Marshall Faulk (RB) was told clearly by the Rams that they don't intend on bringing him back to play behind Steven Jackson. He doesn't look like he'll play anywhere next season except in his own backyard. There it goes your surprise pick/sleeper of the year for the upcoming season.
Kevin Curtis of the Rams is being let go by the team and the Vikings have expressed high interest on him. They should as he enters his 3rd year, which is when most WR's in the NFL blossom to stardom. He and Tarvaris Jackson at QB will be an interesting duo to watch next season. Or will it be Brady Quinn throwing the ball according to the Vikings coach Brad Childress? Quinn just won't fall to 7th overall in next April's draft, PERIOD. Dream on, dream on!
Ernest Wilford WR for the Jaguars is headed to free agency. His already low value will slip down even more now.
Despite the RB problems they had last season, the Texans are on the verge of cutting Domanick Williams (Davis). Whether he'll play at all next season is still undetermined.
Bears RB Thomas Jones is being pursued by the Broncos, who could solve their sticky RBBC issue, but the asking price from the Bears appears to have scared the Broncos away a little. They've asked for 2 first round picks for Jones. Uhmmmm.....
Drew Bledsoe will be cut by the Cowboys. I'm sure he'll play somewhere next season. Stay tuned.
Bears coach Lovie Smith and the organization are a little apart on contract negotiations. $1 million only! Pocket change. He'll coach them next year.
J.J. Arrington (Bust) of the Cardinals will likely be cut as the team wants to find another back-up for Edegerrin James. Likely candidates are Marcell Shipp or Najeh Davenport.
Darrell Jackson WR for the Seahawks is most likely to be traded. No word on which teams may try to work out a deal for him yet.
Brett Favre will undergo ankle surgery soon and will miss 8-10 weeks. Just some off season workouts. He should be ready for training camp. Also according to some sources, the Packers are interested in bringing Aaron Brooks in to back-up the aging Favre. As usual the whole deal is being initially denied. We'll see what happens. Besides, what's this? Is it a requirement that your first name needs to be "Aaron" to have the privilege of backing up Brett Favre? And to think that some people viewed Aaron Rogers to be the answer at Qb there.
Bobby Petrino, the Falcons new coach, has insisted that Michael Vick will be solely a QB next season. Does this mean he'll throw the ball, finally? Interesting to see what develops there.
Willis McGahee of the Bills is rumored to be going to the N.Y Giants. The Giants GM reported that the team will give Brandon Jacobs 20 carries a game and another RB another 15. SURE....If they acquire Willis McGahee, he'll be the primary back and Jacobs will still be the goal-line vulture that he is. End of story.
It's always about "DA MONEY" isn't it? Bengals WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh is seeking a trade. Of course, he denied it for now. He has one year left on his current contract and he feels that he needs to be paid for what he does well. But the Bengals would be foolish to give him a raise for a year and then have him go elsewhere anyhow. If he's traded, the Bengal's Chad Johnson and Carson Palmer will lose some value in the next fantasy draft.
