 Well, Your Fantasy doc went 1-1 in the conference championship game predictions and failed to predict the right winner for the NFC for the first time in these playoffs as the Saints and Reggie Bush let the Bears off the hook. Like Dennis green commented earlier in the year: " are we ready the crown the Bears behind?" I am not!
They will have to face the Colts whom took care of a playoff experienced team like the Patriots to advance to their first Superbowl with Peyton Manning at the helm!
I really wish he wins it finally after shedding off the label of best regular season quarterback and playoff chocker.
Of course, he has been receiving some big help from his RB's and Kicker in making it this far, as he has struggled mightily in this postseason, but it seems like he's gotten his woes fixed.
I'm wishing here, more than predicting the Colts as the Champions, just because it would be very unfair for the struggling, bad, yet arrogant Rex Grossman to win the Lombardi trophy and claiming that half of the merit it's his! Again, I'm not giving you any stats and trends, but just an ordinary's man opinion plus a curios, kind of funny story...read on...
Now, last week, on the friday preeceding the games, on a long highway stretch (96 miles of it) my 10 ysr. old son and I were listening to a sports radio show and the host was advocating my same points about the Saints and Colts being on the superbowl.
I told my son that the Bears were done and the Colts had to finally reach the big game.
He agreed on the Colts but said that the Bears were gonna win their game. When asked about the reason why he exclaimed: "But Da Bears have Thomas Jones....At which I replied with a grin: Son, Thomas Jones is not enough to counter Reggie Bush and Deuce Mcallister plus Drew Brees, Colston and others!" Besides I continued with my expert opinion: "Rex Grossman is going to win the game for the wrong team!!"
Boy, was i wrong? How could I argue with the little Guru after Jone's 198 total yard vs Bush's 37 total yards? I just couldn't!
Well, ladies and gentleman, it turns out my son outpredicted me and on the Monday following the games I asked him: " Ok, little Guru, tell me, who's gonna win the Superbowl now? ( he's a Colts fan) His reply was, after a little hesitation, Da Bears, dad! "
No need to say I was surprised that a 10 yrs old boy could put his hearth aside and use his head to predict games. He will turn out to be a great FF manager one day if he continues that trend.
Now, I can turn my bad luck around by declaring the Bears will win, but I honestly think the Colts deserve it and will win the big game on February 4th. Only if their defense can play another great game just like when they shut down the Ravens and Chiefs. On the other end, like my son said:' But Da Bears have Thomas Jones......"
