We chicks have always had a penchant for dazzling quarterbacks and their rousing aerial attacks. However, in Week 9 the hottest performances came from some smashing running backs. Sophomore sensation Shaun Alexander came through with the fourth yummiest rushing performance of all time with 266 yards and three touchdowns. The Rams hit the Panthers with the one/two punch of Marshall Faulk (118 yards, 2 touchdowns) and Trung Canidate (145 yards). Also setting the field afire was Duce Staley who rushed for 146 yards in addition to catching six passes for 85 yards. So will it be another week of grinding it out on the ground or will the league’s stud quarterbacks flex their big guns? Once again we chicks have sniffed out the lads ready for hot performances and are happy to share our hunches. Fantasy Studs: Brett Favre: Last week Brett was back in fine form after a couple weeks of unexceptional play. But this week we chicks are dreaming of a gaudy aerial display by one of the most sensational quarterbacks to ever play the game. Now that Favre has both of his top receivers healthy, there will be no stopping him. The flailing Falcons will not know how to contain Brett once he starts shooting his bullets around the field at will. Wesley Walls: This tempting tight end certainly did not have a performance worth writing home about last week against the Rams. However, Walls is licking his chops at the thought of hosting the San Fran boys. The last time they met in Week 4, Wesley had one of his lustiest performances with 91 receiving yards and a touchdown. Tiki Barber: We chicks have this lightning bolt on our fantasy team so maybe we really are just dreaming. However, we believe the beefy Dayne is slowing down a bit while Tiki is starting to get his groove back. Last week Barber more than doubled his tubby teammates production with 118 rushing yards. But even if the Giants continue to alternate their doses of Thunder and Lightning, there should be plenty of yards to go around. The Vikings’ porous defense got spanked by Duce Staley last week for 146 yards as they showed the look of a team that has hung up their cleats. Mike Anderson: Now that Terrell Davis has gone limp yet again, it is time for the sophomore sensation to step up and reassert himself as a top running back in the league. Anderson is clearly the back of choice now that Davis is out – the last two weeks Olandis Gary did not even suit up for the games. We chicks feel bad for Mikey as he keeps getting bumped in and out of the lineup. But we know he is man enough to make the most of the opportunity. And what an opportunity it will be – the ‘Skins let up an average of 134 yards per game on the ground! Fantasy Duds: Jimmy Smith and Keenan McCardell: For five and a half years Jimmy and Keenan have been the most insatiable receiving duo in the league. However, they are in store for a dry weekend as they take a road trip to Pittsburgh. The Pitt boys sure can be party poopers when it comes to the passing game. They are currently leading the league in pass defense letting up less than 150 receiving yards per game. Maurice Smith: Since stepping in for the injured Jamal Anderson, Maurice has put up some decent numbers. Last week he embarrassed the ‘Boys for 148 rushing yards. However, he will find that the Packers are not quite as accommodating as the Cowboys. Although we chicks tend to gush over Brett Favre when we discuss the Packers, it is actually their defense that has been stepping up huge this season. Last week they brought Chicago’s A-Train to an abrupt halt and this week they will thwart Maurice.
